The Arts Campus at Willits has expanded its culinary arts offerings. Epicure Catering, its preferred caterer for facility rentals, serves carefully crafted meals featuring Colorado ingredients at TACAW’s Supper Club, held before a wide range of events including music, comedy, film, and author talks. Look no further than Hominy Southern Kitchen in El Jebel for a taste of locally sourced southern comfort food. After opening in fall 2022, chef Jake Burkhardt (see photo) gained a crowd with mouthwatering high-country boils, bayou gumbo, wood-fired oysters, and southern brunch on weekends. Down the road in Carbondale, local chocolatier Mark Burrows has made a home for his sweet tooth at the Cocoa Club on Highway 133. Diners can enjoy handcrafted chocolate, hot coffee, sandwiches, and pastries throughout the day in addition to wine, cocktails, desserts, and charcuterie in the evening. Through the roundabout onto Main Street in Carbondale, local talents including Adam Malmgren and chef Rigoberto Vásquez have teamed up to create a new community gathering space, La Raza, in what was formerly Mi Casita. Working with traditional Mexican ingredients and techniques, La Raza is the place to catch up and unwind, where to go to be with your people.
